Peppy Requests: get paid in naira with a link

Turn an ask into a link: an amount, what it's for, and a secure checkout where the other person pays by bank transfer. How payment requests work, what the payer sees, and how to follow one to Paid.

Asking for money is awkward enough without pasting account numbers into a chat and checking your balance every hour. A payment request turns the ask into a link: an amount, what it's for, and a secure checkout where the other person pays by bank transfer. Once the payment is confirmed, the money is in your naira wallet.

The person paying doesn't need a Peppy account. That makes requests useful for customer invoices, shared costs and one-off jobs.

Create a request

In the app, open Payment requests and choose Request payment. Then:

  1. Say what the payment is for, such as "Logo design, final files".
  2. Enter the amount in naira. It has to fall within the naira limits on the fees page.
  3. Choose Create payment link.

Peppy gives you the link and the date it expires. Copy it and share it yourself, by chat, email or text. Peppy won't email or message the customer for you, so you always choose who gets it.

What the person paying sees

Your name, the description and the amount. They enter their email address, continue to a secure checkout and pay by bank transfer. The payment counts only once it's been verified.

Anyone with the link sees your name, the description and the amount, so send it only to the person who's paying. And neither of you ever needs a Peppy password or PIN to settle a request. If anyone asks for one, it isn't Peppy.

Follow it to Paid

Each request shows its status in the app:

StatusWhat it means
Awaiting paymentThe link is live, and nobody has paid yet.
Payment in progressA payment has started and is being checked.
PaidThe payment is confirmed, and the money is in your naira balance.
Not completedA payment was started but didn't go through.
ExpiredThe link's 7 days are up. Create a new request if you still need paying.
CancelledYou cancelled it, so the link no longer takes payments.

Good to know

  • One link, one payment. Each request asks for one payment of one amount, with its own reference.
  • Links last 7 days. After that the request shows as expired, and you can create a new one.
  • You can cancel. While a request is awaiting payment, you can cancel it, and the link stops taking payments.
  • Naira only. Requests are paid in naira. To receive USDT, ETH or TRX, share your receive address instead, and tell the sender which network it's on.
